At the heart of my counseling practice is a faith that guides not only what I believe, but how I care for others.
What does being a Christian mean to me personally?
Being a Christian means dedicating my life to my Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus died on the cross to redeem humanity so we might live eternally with God. Personally, I recognize that I am deeply in need of grace and that through Christ’s sacrifice, I am able to walk in the love and freedom that I experience today. Being a Christian also means it’s both my duty and my honor to love others the way Jesus loves me. His love sees me as I am, with complete understanding, patience, and unending grace. I believe Jesus is the ultimate example of a perfect counselor: wise, compassionate, and present. In my practice, I aim to reflect His character in the way I care for others.

How I Integrate My Faith and Counseling Practice
- For Christian clients: With permission, I may weave biblical principles into our sessions, always alongside evidence-based techniques like CBT, EMDR, or others.
- For non-Christian clients: Out of deep respect for their beliefs, I do not bring in Scripture. However, the lens through which I understand the human experience is rooted in my faith.
I often pray privately over my sessions, asking for wisdom in my speech and actions, and peace for those I work with. My ultimate desire is that every client, regardless of belief, feels deeply seen, heard, and cared for. I have no agenda to impose my beliefs; I simply want to offer compassion and support in a way that reflects the love of Christ. The coolest part for me is that I don’t have to talk about my faith to show support, compassion, and empathy the way I believe Jesus would. I can just show up and show that type of care through my interactions with my clients.
My Practice Philosophy
How do I balance Scripture with evidence-based techniques like CBT or EMDR?
From an ethical standpoint, I value evidence-based approaches because they ensure I’m using methods that work. But I see the human condition through the lens of Scripture, particularly that we were created to experience love, compassion, and kindness.
To me, God is love. And love is patient, kind, and selfless. If I can show up with that kind of love for my clients, I believe I can help promote healing and help them grow into the fullest version of themselves with the use of evidence-based practices mentioned above.
What does my counseling service really offer?
While many forms of counseling offer empathy and understanding, my counseling service also invites the opportunity to be seen through the lens of God’s unconditional love.
I believe that when a counselor genuinely seeks to live out the heart of Christ, it can create a space where a client feels safe, deeply valued, and truly known. My hope is always that this kind of love comes through in my words and actions in every session I offer.
For the Men I Serve
What barriers do men face when seeking help?
Many men struggle with emotional expression. They feel wrong if they speak up—and wrong if they stay quiet. That tension leaves them isolated and stuck. I work with men to bridge this gap so they can communicate clearly and feel understood without compromising their sense of strength. I greatly appreciate the lens through which I personally see these struggles as a Christian. This framework has resonated with many of the men I serve, promoting strength, honor, sacrifice, emotional awareness, and mission. In Jesus, I see someone who was focused, emotionally open, and unwavering in His purpose. He shows us that real strength can include gentleness, stillness, and tearsful emotion.
How do I encourage men to embrace healing while staying strong?
I help men rediscover who they are—what they value, what gives them purpose, and what brings them back to life. We identify their non-negotiables. Sometimes it’s about rebuilding passion. Other times, it’s about learning to feel again in a world that often demands numbness.
Personal Practice and Boundaries
How do I guard against becoming preachy or overly directive in sessions?
This has never been a challenge for me. I deeply believe that my role as a Christian is to love, not to judge. Even from a young age, I’ve felt a strong sensitivity to the pain of others. I remember being in preschool and feeling grief for a classmate who was hurting.
That memory has stayed with me and shaped the kind of counselor I’ve become: someone who meets people where they are, with gentleness and compassion, not with demands, expectations, or criticism.
What do I do when a client’s beliefs differ from mine?
I become curious. I find their story meaningful. People don’t form their worldview by accident—it’s shaped by the experiences that matter most to them. When someone trusts me with the details of their life story, I treat it with the same reverence I’d give to something sacred. Because in many ways, it is. This is one big part that I really enjoy about my job, and it is always an honor to be trusted with a person’s story and life experiences. I do not take it for granted.
What role does prayer or spiritual discernment play in my sessions?
Prayer is often part of my personal preparation or reflection—never intrusive, always private. Sometimes I feel unsure of how to help a client or where to go in our session, and in those moments, I turn to internal prayer for guidance and direction. I believe God listens, and I’ve seen Him guide our sessions in unimaginable ways. When growth and improvement happen, it’s not because I’m a great therapist—it’s because I serve a great God, and He has made us capable of amazing resilience and fortitude.
